Schwinn SmartStart aluminum kids frame with rigid fork offers a more narrow, kid-specific Q-factor, kid-specific saddle and a slack seat tube angle that allows both leg extension and reach to grow with the child as the saddle is raised. 32 × 16t gearing makes pedaling easier for young riders. Beginner riders have the option to use either the coaster or hand brakes helping them transition to big kid bikes.

I bought this for my 7 year old for her birthday in July '11 and she absolutely loves it. We ride around town on it nearly every weekend including the relatively flat dirt trails such as Wildwood and the Albertson fire road. Pros include a solid frame with decent parts (for a 7 year old). The rear handbrake is plenty sturdy enough to handle the streets and dirt for her 67+ lb. frame of hers. Cons is that is a pretty heavy bike, however it's what you get for a bike in this price range. If you're choosing to buy a bike at [@] I would definitely choose a bike like this one. The bikes are assembled by the staff here so you know your child can ride it immediately without worrying about any loose parts falling off. They even replaced the seatpost clamp on it after the bolt on it stripped after attempting to raise the seat.I definitely recommend this bike. It's solid and is a very good ride for my daughter.
